Happy New Year 2017!
.

"He said 4 words. And I said yes"

http://theblackmedia.org/2016/12/29/serena-williams-alexis-ohanian-engaged-reddit/

Vijay, Muniyappan and I were contemporaries of HKRH College in late 60s.
Whereas Vijay moved to St Joseph Trichi, Muniyappan  and I continued there until we came to Jipmer.
There was an English lecturer (tall-dark-handsome) always in white and white neatly pressed clothes and wearing an elegant tie.
He taught us English literature.
He taught us how to speak and write in English.
According to him one doesn't need to say or write any piece of thoughts in complex lengthy sentences.
No sentence needs more than 3-4 words.
Here is an example he cited when teaching Tennyson [as much as I can recall now]:

"Ulysses walked straight to Cyclopes.
Cyclopes stood up.
They starred into each other’s eyes.
Seconds passed.
It felt like time was endless.
No words were spoken.
What a suspended animation!
Emotions peaked.
It was intense."
And so on.

A news item I read today on yahoo site brought my old memories our time at HKRH alive.
This is titled: 'Serena Williams announces her engagement'.
Here I quote:
Serena Williams has announced her engagement to Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, via, naturally, a Reddit post. On the site’s “/r/isaidyes” forum, Williams wrote:

“I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome. To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance. But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.”

To me Serena is not simply an all time great tennis player.
She is exceptionally smart.
Her English is crisp.
Simple but most effective. Her thoughts are clear.

Now Vijay and Muniyaps, can you recall for me the name of our English teacher? He is certainly not Mr. Krishnasamy.
My memory is letting me down.
Love.
